The Girl, the Witch, and the Tree-Spell | I had to write this one down, because it was pretty awesome. I had a dream two nights ago that I was going to GC again, and I was a single guy looking for a girl. While standing by Burritt, I was recommended by a friend for this certain girl who was single and rather pretty. She came from a very conservative family. They started describing her standards for a guy. She needed a guy who would be satisfied with courtship. She needed a guy who would be satisfied with no physical contact of any kind. She needed a guy who had to ask her parent's permission for almost any relationship decision with her. She needed a guy who had, in essence, "Kissed Dating Goodbye." I told my friend that I was extremely wary of this, because I'd been burned by this sort of nonsense in the past.
She came by, and I dropped my feelings of uncertainty long enough to walk her to a house. When I got into the house, I had this feeling that the house was full of old, buried memories. I began to try to use the magical power of words (a dream, mind you; I don't believe in this nonsense in real life) to pick up objects. Though I didn't think it would work, I concentrated on certain objects and said the word "Cehron" or "Cehthon," or something close to that. This was an old word that meant, "Come Here." Finally one of the objects flew uncertainly towards me. Excited by this newly discovered power, I began practicing on other objects. Some came and others didn't, but I was starting to get good at it.
Suddenly a witch showed up at the house, and I was outside with the girl again. The witch threw this long strangely-worded spell at the girl. The girl screamed. Her scream started to turn scratchy as she began to elongate and grow branches. Eventually she turned into a tree, her face imprinted in the bark still twisted in a look of horror. (This transmogrification looked remarkably like Thom Yorke's in the video of "There There.")
The witch ran out back through the house, and I chased her. I made it a point to memorize the spell she used on the girl. I used the spell on the witch, and she turned into a tree herself. I ran back out to the girl and was able to turn her back to a normal girl again using another spell. How did I get this spell? No one knows.
After freeing the girl, I learned from others that she had been missing for 5-6 years. To the people who told me this, this was unfortunate, because she was an up and coming star of one or two of the colleges cheesy movies. Now she would be able to star in other cheesy movies. She went promptly to do just that.
And that's about all I remember. My favorite part is the middle. The parts around the edges make absolutely no sense. 0 Interpretations/Comments | Leave an Interpretation/Comment | December 18, 2009, 8:17 AM
Jaron's Olde Dreams #5: The Stump Man | Alright ladies and gents,
The dating of this dream is a little more difficult than the others, because I had it when I was at grandma's old house (a very common setting for a lot of my dreams). I'm thinking it happened between 1988 and 1991. And it might have even happened in that transition period between when we lived in a single wide trailer and when we lived in a double wide trailer which would make it either late 1989 or early 1990.
In any case, in grandma's house there is a bed in the living room which Holly, Christy, and I would sleep in when we slept over as little kids. It was a fold-out bed from a couch, and it was located in a living room-ish area that we knew as the "game" room. We slept with our backs to a staircase, and there was a little open area under the staircase where all the toys were kept.
I fell asleep there and had a dream that there was a monster behind the couch, a stump man. He came up out of the floor, but but remained attached to the floor. He was thimble shaped and stood about a foot and a half high and had an 8 to 12 inch diameter. He was brown like a tree trunk. He had a mouth, a big wooden looking nose, white eyes, and no appendages. I was freaked out by his presence. At any given moment he could pop back down into the ground and pop out somewhere else in the room. He might have done this in one or two other places.
I went outside of grandma's house to go home and get away from the stump man. It was late at night and the wind was blowing the trees. I turned to look back at grandma's house, and the stump man outside in front of the house. He was sticking further out of the ground than ever, and I could see hundreds of roots underneath of him jetting out in every direction. "His roots go everywhere," I thought to myself.
I think the stump man was inspired by that thing that popped out of Lord Morley's coffin in the movie "The Private Eyes." That thing used to terrify me as a kid.
That's about it! Creepy, eh? Next time it will be the "fish down the steps" dream. 0 Interpretations/Comments | Leave an Interpretation/Comment | December 12, 2009, 12:25 PM
Jaron's Olde Dreams #4: Dad Upside Down | Alright ladies and gents,
Here is the yet another dream. It still precedes the "Christy's shoes" dream (I think), and it is still quite vague. I had this dream sometime between 1989 and 1990. We were in the new double wide trailer at this point, and I believe this is one of the first dreams I had there; the first one I can remember, anyway.
I had this dream that some evil person had my Dad turned upside down in a round barred cage. It looked rather like a large bird cage. In the dream I knew that this would kill him. I was terrified, but I was unable to help. I think I was asking the person who locked him up to let him go.
That's it. Next time it will be the "Stump Man" dream, and it will be far more interesting! Thanks for reading. 0 Interpretations/Comments | Leave an Interpretation/Comment | December 4, 2009, 9:23 AM
Jaron's Olde Dreams #3: The Evil Hamburger Helper Glove | Alright ladies and gents,
Yet again, it's time to post another of Jaron's olde dreams. I'll do this every Friday.
This dream happened while I lived in a single wide trailor. I probably had it between 1988 and 1989. This one is an interesting one as I don't remember what parts were real and what parts were a dream. When I had it, I felt it was real; which may have happened in reality, or may have been a feeling I felt in the dream (sort of like waking up in a dream, only to find you're in another dream). It's only been in my most recent rational years (6-25 years of age) that I've assumed that most of it had to be a dream. At the time I wasn't so sure (at least that's how the memory exists in my head now). So I will try my best to sort out which parts were real, and which were not.
I had a dream (I think) that I was sitting on a couch in the living room of our single wide trailor. I was alone. I kept looking back towards a the main door in the hallway behind the couch, and I saw the Hamburger Helper glove floating close to the ceiling. One time he went down the hall and disappeared. Another time he came floating at me. He really freaked me out for some reason (I had this feeling he was evil).
I got up from the couch (reality now, I think) and found that Dad was sleeping or napping in his bedroom. I went to sleep in his bed, because I was scared of the hand monster behind me.
At some point I remember looking into the living room and the kitchen beyond it (dream or imagination, I'm not sure which; in fact, I'm not sure if this part happened at all) and still seeing the Hamburger Helper glove taunting me. But I was safe, because I was with Dad; even though I still felt uncomfortable that the glove existed.
Weird, huh? Stay tuned next time, when I go over the "Dad Upside Down" dream. 0 Interpretations/Comments | Leave an Interpretation/Comment |
