Cauliflower and Mudpit
This'll be a good first dream. I know exactly what it means...I think. Anyway, I dreamt I was leaving a movie and I was in this long line and I saw some boxes of cauliflower and broccoli. I passed the cauliflower and realized I really wanted to eat some but the crowd was so big that I couldn't turn around and get any. I hollered to my friend Robbie who was close by to toss me some cauliflower. He threw me one piece and I fumbled with it and dropped it. Then I picked it up, wiped it off and ate it. And it was good. I decided I wanted more when I got out. This real adventurous dude I knew from high school was there and walking this distinctly narrow path on a high ledge to get back to the movie. I wanted more cauliflower so I followed him but I was holding a bunch of baggage in my hands (like a backpack and stuff). If you fell off the ledge, you fell into a big muddy pit. At one point, the path ended against a wall and you had to jump against a railing at the side and pull yourself up and over it. I jumped and was pulling myself up and the dude called and said, “You’re doing it too fast! You have to take your time on it!” And because I was doing it too fast I fell into the mud.

Jaron's thoughts

Hey Jake,

I'd love to hear your interpretations, but for fun, I'll throw mine out.

Broccoli/Cauliflower is typically thought of as good for you, and in this dream you're really trying to get it. At first you pass up what's good for you, then you ask a friend for help and get a tainted version of what's good for you.

Then you find it's even harder to get what's good for you, and because of a lack of patience and/or foresight you fall into the pit and don't get what you achieve.

Ha ha, I'm probably totally wrong in this :) Let me know your thoughts, and what you think the movie represents...

Jaron,

That's actually pretty accurate. The context for the movie is a poem I wrote earlier that day. The last half of it said, "I'm trapped in this movie that's lost its plot over time to so many cliches that I have no reason why -- just a feeling in my gut that things stay the same; the names have all changed and what happens is the only constant."

There's a sense that I don't really know what to do with what's good for me because I fumble with it when Robbie tosses it to me and when I'm trying to walk the narrow ledge, I have a lot of baggage (aka past things bogging me down).

I looked up what mudpit means and it said hopelessness so it could be that in my impatience, I feel hopeless about the situations at hand.

Thanks for throwing out the interpretation. I'm gonna try to interpret yours now.

Jake
