Hmmm, Alien
This is a long one and has a lot of imagery. I dreamt that I wanted to use a sound clip from the movie Alien to open up an uncoming show I had for my hardcore band but when I went to get it, it wasn’t going to work right. I couldn't get the volume adjusted loud enough and the whole part was pretty quiet with long intermittent breaks of silence. Shelly (my sister) came downstairs and said she always wanted to see the movie Alien. I explained to her that I was halfway through the movie trying to get this clip and she said she’d watch it later. She said her friend said it was about a Saurosaurus. And I was like, “No, it’s about an alien, not a dinosaur.” I watched one scene where Sigourney Weaver has a telepathic conversation with the alien and asks its motive and it says it doesn’t have one and I was thinking that that’s what made James Cameron’s movie so scary was this powerful creature had no motive. Somewhere in all of this I went to a bar and ordered a beer and they had this beer on tap where if you got the smallest you got free refills. They left the tab running constantly and had an overflow bin. You could dip your beer in the overflow bin if you wanted. So I got the smallest size and one of the guys called me a pussy and said that I needed to drink a man’s beer (exact words). I looked at his glass and it was huge. I found the whole interaction humorous because I was obviously getting the better end of the deal. Then I went to drive home (but it wasn’t home…it was my old home in Wildwood) and I realized I’d driven 354 miles and was on the verge of running out of gas. So I stopped at a gas station to fill up but the gas station was full of cars. I wanted to wait around but I was really about to run out of gas at any second so I went to go elsewhere. I accidentally went the wrong direction (I was on a motorcycle at this point and had to ride it like a bike) and so I turned around. When I got back to the gas station, there was a bus there and this cop was explaining how I could get a ride on the bus. Everybody in the gas station was eating cake celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Alien. I realized they were all in line for the cake and not the gas pumps like I originally thought. I asked one of the guys if there was gas in there and he said no, but I could get some cake if I’d like. I saw my friend Greg Kuo at one point and I told him something like, “Greg, I told my sister Shelly that it’s better to be looking towards the future than to be stuck in the past.” I had a pretty sweet allegory for it but I think I forgot what it was. Greg said that that was great. I saw my reflection at some point and realized I had mayonnaise on my face. I don’t really like mayonnaise in real life and I was wondering how that got on there.
