Winter Concert
I was in a small shop on the Square in Greenville, trying on dresses or something. It was a splatter-paint place, because the lady helping me with my dresses kept throwing paint all over the place. It was how she decorated her dresses. She had long hair, dark blonde and tightly curled, and wore messy clothes to do her work.

I suddenly remembered I was supposed to be at a rehearsal for Doctor Wilson's choir at 5:00, and it was almost 6:00. The concert itself started at 6:30. I freaked out a little and started getting into the only dress I own in real life, a pretty black dress with black tights and shoes, and tried putting my hair up in a pouf or something. I was so afraid I was going to get paint on it.

The lady's husband, or man friend (?) walked outside in a thick coat. He had a shaven head with a layer of dark grey/brown hair that was slightly shorter than half an inch. He looked like someone who would make a good gangster if he'd chosen that life; he was heavily built, but not too bulky. He hunched outside in his big coat and started scraping all the snow away from my van. (I don't have my van anymore - my sister wrecked it last Christmas :[ )

So I put my own coat on and went outside. It was dark and snowing, a scene I remember loving during our Christmas Chamber Singers caroling my freshman year, which we did in the early evening. I walked around my van and kicked at the tires, trying to help the man dislodge some more snow. Then I got in and drove away.

I came to the first stop sign and, being in a hurry as I was, I pulled around into the other lane and went first. I didn't even care that I was being a jerk to that person, I was just terrified of being late for the concert.

It's daytime at this point, late afternoon with the sun starting to go down. I turn through some random streets that I don't remember ever seeing in Greenville, and come to a dead end. The road I want is to my right, going to the opposite direction, on the other side of a small grassy divider littered with rocks. I drive over it anyway and get to the other road, driving up to the church parking lot on my left.

As I'm rushing into the church, I run into my friend Jessica Dothager, who goes to Greenville as well. She and I have known each other for the last 9 years, as we go to the same home church in real life. We run into each other every once in a while at Greenville. She asked me how I was doing and I said I was fine, just late for the concert as usual. She laughed and said something to the effect of "good luck" or "have fun", and I hurried in.

The entire choir was sitting on a very large stairway, lined up in the exact formation they were to be on stage. I could see Dr. Wilson sitting near the top, a little to the right. Everyone scooted to make a center path for me, and I walked up the steps. The second Doc saw me, he held up five fingers and looked at me very sternly to indicate that he was not happy I'd missed the practice. Terrified, I tried to make up some excuse. I ended up mouthing something like "I had a 4:30 class" and tried making a four and a 30 with my fingers, but he just kept looking at me like I'd kicked one of his kids.

Then I woke up.

Man...

Man, that would suck to have Wilson mad at you for ANY reason; even if it was just slight disapproval. And that last moment made me shudder for the sheer awkwardness of it all. Are you currently a part of the chamber singers/choir irl?

Incidentally, how does one make the hand signal for 4:30? And what happens when you get to 11:00?

I'm in both the GC Choir and the Chambers Singers.
And I'm choir chaplain this year.
And I'm Doc's administrative assistant.

Most of my stress is choir/Doc induced ^^

As to the 4:30, I'm pretty sure I held up four fingers on my right hand, then did three fingers on my left and made a zero with my right. So the four, then the thirty... something like that :P

For 11:00, I might have just held my forefingers together, then moved my hands slightly to the right and made a zero with each one. So, like: II OO

:D

4 and a half fingers

Ha ha!

I would've just imagined 4 1/2 fingers or so would've done the trick; but I suppose my method falls short at 11 (unless you begin using binary).

Wow that is quite busy! Choir alone is hectic enough! Maybe that's where that dream came from :)
