An organ-ic experience
Yesterday Mom became an organ doner...a HAMMOND organ donor! (Whew I've gotta retire that one, before it lays next to the other dead horses I've beat)

My day yesterday started with me waking up nice and early to practice music for Copper Creek Christian church. I played two services. I then left with Rachel to pick up Jake Russell in St. Louis. Our goal was to pick up Mom's old Hammond organ at Unity Baptist Church in Fayette, MO and transplant it into my downstairs studio.

After a bite to eat at steak and shake; we headed on our way; enjoying the day and talking about dreams, music, college, St. Louis and other interesting topics. We arrived at the church, and Dad helped us load the organ into his truck. Mom was giving me tips about how to take care of it. She gave me a brief history on her (it's a she, Mum says...). Apparently Mom bought it waaaaay back in 1989 and had been playing it at several churches until 2006: first at Mt. Pleasant, then at Moniteau Chapel, and finally at Unity Baptist. So I've heard Mom play this thing for years and years; ever since I was five...

Anyways, we tied her down and drove both of our vehicles all the way back to Edwardsville. When we arrived, we were challenged with how to get the organ into the basement. We had to turn it around a corner and bring it down the steps, and it was heavy! After turning it on its side, crawling in and out of downstairs windows, and finally heaving down the steps (nearly crushing Jake in the process) we finally managed to park it in its home in the back of my "recording room". Now I can finally incorporate the organ into the future of any tunes I record!

Afterwards we ate at Denny's and parted ways. All in all, it was quite a fun adventure/road trip. One I wouldn't mind repeating (aside from the organ-moving bit). And some good things came out of it as well. Jake gave me some good ideas for another potential concept album, and we discussed getting into a band together. Want to know more? Just ask...
